Almavina Strategic Partners (Almavina) was founded in November 2023. I had a milestone birthday in 2023 – which naturally caused me to reflect on my life and the people who have added value to it. Throughout the years, strong women have had a broad and significant impact on me and the way I view the world – beginning with family and teachers, but later to include colleagues, friends, fellow students, and professors. Almavina is named in honor of those women and their significant impact on my life.
Almavina is an adaptation of my maternal grandmother’s name, the “original” strong and independent woman. A force beyond her years, Alma Melvina (Sime) Sharp (1901 – 1998) was a college-educated teacher, an artist, and a rock to her family and everyone who knew her. At age 30, she married Roy Sharp and gave up teaching to raise 5 children and run the domestic end of a large family farming operation in Iowa. Her strength, intelligence, and commitment to excellence made an impact on generations of family members, myself included. She passed away at the beginning of my career, but I know she would be proud of the work I have done.
